COMPETENCIES
Communication – COVID-19 presented an immediate change in mandates, expectations, and delivery methods of instruction. As a member of the Administrative Team at Enloe Magnet High School, it was imperative that we communicate clearly and effectively to the Enloe community. I engaged in Google Meet Professional Learning Teams of the entire Arts department to address the concerns of the team and listen to best support. I followed up with written communication to provide expectations from the county. I provided support to teachers who were not use to an online learning platform. |
Change Management – I effectively engaged in the change process to implement Second Chance Breakfast and Home Room in the daily schedule of Enloe Magnet High School. The process included supervising grade level planning for Homeroom and planning and supervision of daily Second Chance Breakfast transitions with the School Improvement Team.
Creative thinking – The Parent Equity Team decided to facilitate an Equity Conference this year, lead a book club, and create a connection point for parents who are hard to reach. I worked with the Parent Teacher Student Association President to create a structure in which the parents could collaborate in small groups once a month based on their area of expertise during the meetings. The teams worked on different ways they could market their support, reach parents who are unable to attend most school functions, and determine the book and format of the Equity Book Club meetings. The small teams would share out for constructive feedback at the end of the meeting.
Customer focus – As a Servant Leader, I made sure I made myself available to the students during class transitions and lunch. I also conferenced with students during second lunch when I did not have supervisory duties and during Homeroom. I would often connect students with their counselor to continue support.
Dialogue/Inquiry – I co-created and co-facilitated the Math Content Day with the Math Department supervising Assistant Principal and the Principal of the school. The content day was created to address the low performance of our Math courses. I established the collaborative norms in the beginning of the session for anticipated difficult conversations.
Emotional Intelligence– As the Arts Department Supervisor, I attended all of the first performances of the department and provided a token of gratitude after the completion of the productions to the teachers. I was also sure to celebrate the department, and express appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the Enloe Magnet High School Community.
Judgment– I use judgement to reach conclusions and make high quality decisions based on available information when dealing with student discipline. I assisted the administrative team with bus referrals, investigations, 11th grade teacher referrals, case narratives, parent contact, and gathering information in a lock down.
Organizational Ability – I effectively scheduled the administrative coverage of extra-duty activities, collaborated with the Beginning Teacher Coordinator to schedule Beginning Teacher Support Program meetings, met field trip deadlines, and scheduled the work of the Community Visioning Project and Math Content Day.
Personal Responsibility for Performance– The Wake Principal Leadership Program helped us to determine our reason for becoming a school leader through Digital Storytelling and refining our Vision Statement. I received feedback from professors and program directors to develop my vision statement which acknowledges the importance of continual growth
Responsiveness – Student safety and achievement depends on issues being addressed in a timely manner. One of the ways I remained punctual in responsiveness as a principal resident was to email with solutions within twenty-four hours. This email communication demonstrates immediate action based on the dates of the emails.
Visionary– I co-created and co-facilitated three vision casting sessions for the Parent Teacher Student Association of Enloe Magnet High School and three vision casting sessions for teachers structured to capture stakeholder values and dreams of what the school could become for all the students. This artifact showed the categorized values and anticipated action steps to fulfill the dreams and values of the stakeholders.
