STANDARD TWO: Instructional Leadership
A. Focus on Learning and Teaching, Curriculum, Instruction and assessment: The school executive leads the discussion about standards for curriculum, instruction and assessment based on research and best practices in order to establish and achieve high expectations for students.
As a Principal Resident at Enloe Magnet High School, I worked with the Principal, Dr. Will Chavis, and Assistant Principal, Mr. Samuel Brick, to plan and facilitate a Professional Learning Content Day for Math 1 and Math 3 teachers. We worked with leaders of the Wake County Public School System to address our need for Math content and Professional Learning structure. |

As a Wake Principal Leadership fellow, I worked collaboratively with a team to create a Professional Learning Session to demonstrate proficiency in Planning Management and Evaluation in Professional Learning Communities (ELP 552). |
As a Principal Resident of Enloe Magnet High School, I conducted monthly observations with the support of the Principal and Assistant Principals. The team used the Pre-Observation Conference form to guide conversations regarding the curriculum, instructional focus, and use of Enloe 5 Equity components in the observed lesson. |
|
B. Focus on Instructional Time: The school executive creates processes and schedules which protect teachers from disruptions of instructional or preparation time.

Course ELP 553 in the Wake Principal Leadership Program facilitated the evaluation of Organizational Management of Enloe Magnet High School. I participated in School Improvement planning teams to create schedules that supported school initiatives. I also observed multiple school structures including lunch, class changes, teacher planning times, Professional Learning Community meetings, athletic events, school starting and ending procedures, and staff meetings to monitor and analyze scheduling effectiveness. This artifact also supports the evaluation of Human Resource Leadership (Standards 4. c1 and 4.c2) where I reviewed the Teacher evaluation instrument, completed observations, and Walk-Through Observations. I also analyzed the evaluation process, reviewed procedures, and discussed dismissals. I created modified processes and schedules for a simulated future school at which I would be the principal. |
