STANDARD FOUR: Human Resource Leadership
A. Professional Development/ Learning Communities: The school executive ensures that the school is a professional learning community.
As a fellow of the Wake Principal Leadership Program, I served as the Instructional Facilitator and School Improvement Chair of Olds Elementary School. I developed a Professional Learning Plan for the year to provide learning aligned to the vision, mission, and goals of our school. I plan to implement a plan in my future school to ensure my school remains a professional learning community. |

As a Principal Resident, I was assigned the task of providing professional development on the Instruction component of the Instruction, Curriculum, Environment, Learner (ICEL) Model used in Wake County Public Schools. I facilitated a protocol to determine the preferred learning of the teachers within instruction to ensure Enloe Magnet High School remained a professional learning community. |
B. Recruiting, hiring, placing and mentoring of Staff: The school executive establishes processes and systems in order to ensure a high-quality, high performing staff.
As a Wake Principal Leadership Program fellow, course ELP 553 facilitated opportunities for Organizational Management and Human Resource Management in K-12 Education. I collaborated with a fellow to create a promotional video for high school teacher recruitment. The purpose of the video is to increase the interest high school educators and expand the options for high performing teachers and staff. |

I served on the team to hire a Foods teacher for the Career and Technical Education Department. I compiled a list of questions we created as a team before interviewing the candidates. The questions served as a reference to keep our inquiries aligned to our vision and to gain the information needed to hire a high-quality and high-performing teacher. |
I served on the hiring team for Assistant Principal at Enloe Magnet High School as a Principal Resident. We interviewed many candidates for the position. I was responsible for facilitating the interview round with teachers where I welcomed the candidates, facilitated introductions, started the questions, and concluded our time together with information about next steps. I have included the interview guide our team created to ensure the candidates would demonstrate high quality and high performance. |

As Principal Resident, I was tasked with supervising the assignment of mentors to the new staff at Enloe Magnet High School. This position afforded me the opportunity to co-facilitate the New Teacher Orientation where teachers received training and resources before the rest of the staff to promote high quality and high performance among the new teachers at Enloe Magnet High School. I created and sent the flyer and letter to the new Enloe Magnet High School staff. |
C. Teacher and Staff Evaluation: The school executive evaluates teachers and other staff in a fair and equitable manner with the focus on improving performance and, thus student achievement.
I participated in the evaluation of teachers using the Rubric for Evaluating North Carolina Teachers by observing teachers with the Principal and Assistant Principals of Enloe Magnet High School. I scored and wrote this evaluation with the coaching of an Assistant Principal. I also co-facilitated the pre-observation and post-observation of this evaluation. |

As a Wake Principal Leadership Program fellow, I was tasked with conducting regular walk-throughs. I created this walk through tool by combining components from my ELP 553 course regarding Human Resource Management in K-12 Education, and Enloe Magnet High School values and core beliefs to improve performance and achievement. |
